Internships



GEI’s Internship Program is designed to give high school graduates and college students the opportunity to gain entry-level work experience in a field of their interest. Interns contribute to the overall goal of GEI while gaining valuable work experience that will benefit their future career.

Social Media Intern

We are looking for a Social Media Intern that will be responsible for updating our Facebook and Twitter page daily. This person should understand the ins and outs of Facebook and Twitter, and be able to consistently update these pages daily (Monday-Friday) with interesting posts. The social media intern will also be responsible for creating a blog for our school. .  This intern will gain broad experience in various aspects of marketing and publishing. This position can be done remotely.

Responsibilities

-Choose interesting content to post daily on social media

-Choose content related to English learning, important news/announcements regarding GEI, and similar appropriate content.

-Ensure all posts are grammatically correct and contain no spelling errors.

-Respond to student inquiries

-Provide Internship Coordinator with weekly updates

-Complete a Project Management Plan

Requirements

GEI is looking for a high school graduate or college student who is detail oriented, creative, and able to multi-task. This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, must understand English grammar, and must understand how to make interesting and professional content.

Majors

English, Marketing, and Communication majors are especially encouraged to apply.


Newsletter Publisher Intern

We are looking for a Newsletter Publisher who will be responsible for our Newsletter. This person will be responsible for designing, creating, and publishing our newsletter,  as well as gathering the content, and ensuring the newsletter contains interesting information related to English learning as well as our school. This intern will gain broad experience in various aspects of marketing and publishing.

Responsibilities

-Choose interesting and relevant content

-Design the layout for the newsletter

-Ensure the newsletter contains no grammatical or spelling errors

-Gather information for newsletter

-Publish newsletter quarterly

Requirements

GEI is looking for a high school graduate or college student who is detail oriented, creative, and able to multi-task. This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, must understand English grammar, and must understand how to make interesting and professional content. Experience with making newsletters or similar content is desired.

Majors

Cultural Event Planner Intern

We are looking for a Cultural Event Planner who will work under the Student Services Coordinator. The Cultural Event Planner will be responsible for planning cultural events for our ESL students. This person should understand American culture and be able to think of different and interesting events or activities that students can do to learn more about American culture, history, or other things that will help them adapt to living in the U.S. This intern will gain experience in public relations and communication.

Responsibilities

-Plan cultural activities for students (4 per term)

-Attend events if necessary to chaperone students

-Make and distribute flyers and handouts for the activities/events

-Make participation logs of who attended

-Keep a copy of cultural event documents listed above

-Communicate with GEI Instructors regarding worksheets for the events

Requirements

GEI is looking for a college student who is detail oriented, creative, and able to multi-task. This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, must understand English grammar, and must understand how to make interesting and professional content. Experience with event planning or knowledge of local history is desired.

Majors

Communication, Advertising, and Public relation majors, or a similar field, are especially encouraged to apply.


Instructor Assistant Intern

We are looking for an Instructor Assistant who will work under the AEP Instructor. The Assistant will be responsible for assisting with daily lessons, and performing clerical duties.

Assistants should have background knowledge in education and will further gain more knowledge in this area upon completion of this internship.

Responsibilities

-Assist instructors with daily lessons (curriculum material)

-Communicating with students on behalf of instructors

-Clerical duties such as data entry, making worksheets, etc.

-Grading homework

Requirements

GEI is looking for a college student who is detail oriented, professional, and able to multi-task. This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, must understand English grammar, and must have knowledge or experience within the field of education.

Majors

English, ESL, and Education majors are especially encouraged to apply.


Assistant to Director of Curriculum Intern

We are looking for an assistant to the Director of Curriculum. The assistant will be responsible for assisting the Director of Curriculum with creating and preparing supplemental material for all 5 levels of our Academic English Program. This includes material for reading, writing, listening, speaking and presentation for our ESL students. This person should have an interest or background knowledge in curriculum and education and will gain further knowledge of these areas upon completion of this internship.

Responsibilities

-Assist with creating supplemental material and curriculum materials.

-Take minutes at Curriculum Meetings

-Organizing curriculum materials

-Communicating with instructors regarding curriculum and assessment

-Clerical duties such as data entry, making forms and worksheets, etc.
