This course is specifically designed as a supplement for students of all levels. Accented speech may interfere with effective communication and accurate comprehension even when the speaker knows the right words to say. Instruction will be provided in all pronunciation areas including phonemes, words, sentences, and full discourse. Instructors will assess the areas of each student’s pronunciation in need of improvement and guide students through fun, interactive, communicative activities to help students reduce accented speech.

Presentation Skills: This course targets acquisition and improvement of students’ skills for presenting in academic settings. It is designed for students to give effective presentations and use language appropriate for an academic and/or educational environment. Instructors take a communicative approach in integrating conceptualization, vocabulary, discussion activities, reading, language review, and application of skills widely used real-life situations. This course will also teach students how to design and deliver effective multimedia presentations using tools such as Power Point, Slides or Keynote.

Professional Communication: This course provides an integrated academic English curriculum for mastering functional language in specific situations while communicating effectively and confidently. Each unit presents a wide variety of academic conversational activities including classroom discussion, professional listening comprehension, idiomatic expressions and others. Students will benefit from a focus on intelligibility and contextualized practice.

Business Negotiation: This is a professional training course incorporating theory with practical and critical thinking skills to provide a context-based approach to business English. This course helps learners communicate better during business meetings or negotiations and it builds confidence and fluency through task analysis and engagement in realistic business activities.

Critical Reading: This course is for anyone wanting to refine strategies for understanding academic study materials. Students will develop the analytical capabilities to relate generalization to supporting ideas and will learn to identify the patterns into which the text’s main concepts are structured. Instructors will introduce students to key concepts in criticism and theory that, in turn, facilitate skills in close critical analysis and enable students to study, write about, appreciate and enjoy literary texts.

Intensive Tutoring:  This course is available to accelerate learning progress through highly focused and individualized academic support in a stimulating small group environment. An instructor will work attentively with four or fewer students sharing similar needs and areas of interest to expedite proficiency.
