Central Park School for Children

Central Park School for Children is a charter school in downtown serving students in kindergarten through 4th grade. The school has about 300 students. Charter schools are public schools that operate independently of local school districts with parents and school staff working together to operate the school. Admissions are by lottery and open to all North Carolina students. The school gives lottery preference to children from disadvantaged families.
Glenwood Elementary School

Glenwood Elementary is a public school that serves kindergarten through fifth grade students in east Chapel Hill. It has an enrollment of 450 students. Glenwood is the site of the district’s Dual Language Mandarin-English Program and has a high Asian student population. One-third of students participate in ESL programs.
